Facebook is reportedly all set to make foray into the local deals business, in a move that will put the world’s most popular social-networking site head-to-head with daily deals providers like Groupon.
According to the published reports, Facebook will help businesses deal offers directly to users. The service will introduce be available in Dallas, Atlanta, Austin, San Diego and San Francisco.
The new service will be an expansion of an already available service that offers deals to users who make use of Facebook Places to check-in to a location. Subscribers to the potential service will be capable of finding deals on a definite page listing all local deals available at that time.
The social-networking platform said that they were working to make it easier for members to hook up with local businesses.
Commenting on the reports, Facebook reportedly said, “We're testing a new Deals feature that brings you offers from nearby businesses, which you can share with your friends."
The new service will rival with Groupon and the like, which email users information on what to do in their cities, along with bargains & sales offers.
