The Regional Director of the Department of Health (DOH), Dr. Aristides Tan, says that there are inadequate ways to avoid the radiation leak in Japan. The radiation leak coming from nuclear power plant will affect the country.
The Department of Health warns that the radiation leak can cause thyroid disease, blood dyscracies like leukemia, anemia, bleeding, skin diseases like burns, eczema and skin cancer among the citizens.
To reduce the impact of the nuclear byproducts people are advised to maintain personal hygiene, intake a balanced diet and consume adequate fluids. The DOH has also urged the people to remain calm and patient.
Many federal agencies, including the Department of Energy (DOE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), are constantly evaluating the radiation levels of air, drinking water, milk and rainfall across the country.
The DOH is also monitoring the levels of radiation which releases from the damaged nuclear power plants in Japan. The DOH has made sure that the radiation leak will not be experienced by any of the US states.
