Action adventure title Dragon Age II grabbed top spots in three of the total five charts listed following its opening week ended March 14. Dragon Age II topped other games on Steam, Direct2Drive and Impulse.
Dragon Age II features customized Hawke, the main character of the game, which can be played as either a man or a woman. Hawke goes from being an impoverished refugee to become a prime mover & shaker.
The player shapes the actions of Hawke and his/her team characters. The player has to make the best of bad choices. For instance, the player has to decide whether to spend a year of servitude in a mercenary company or as a smuggler.
Each character of the team has beautifully written dialogues and voice-acting is superb, but overall the game could not live up to its predecessor. In addition, the game suffers a distinct lack of polish.
But, Dragon Age II entangled into controversy when a Bioware employee, Chris Hoban, was caught making attempts to twist metacritic's overall average. The attempt was made following mixed reviews, most of which say the sequel failed to live up to expectations.
