Australia Plans Filtration of Net

Australia is planning to add filters to internet, as China and Iran, which will result into official forbiddance to access of criminal websites.

The selection of these sites will be undertaken by an independent classification body in guidance of public as claimed by Mr. Conroy.

"The claims that the Australian government plans to implement a censorship regime similar to China or Iran are baseless," Communications Minister Stephen Conroy said. He added by saying that only offensive content such as child sexual abuse material, bestiality, sexual violence including rape and detailed instruction in crime and drug use should be blocked.

Mr. Conroy gave a green signal to Internet service provider (ISP) for this and that this won't interfere with the internet speed.

Italy and Germany along with 15 other western countries are stepping forward for this filtration process.

In place where Countries are coming forward for this issue there are some oppositions seen by some internet users.

"Through a combination of additional resources for education and awareness, mandatory internet filtering of RC (refused classification)-rated content, and optional ISP-level filtering, we have a package that balances safety for families and the benefits of the digital revolution," Mr. Conroy said.

The parliament's approval on the move is expected to come in August 2010, and it will be then out into effect soon.
