Online retailer Amazon is rumored to be preparing its own digital store for Android applications.
According to Wired Magazine, the Amazon’s Android App Store is all set to be launched on coming Tuesday, March 22.
Reports about Amazon’s App Store have been emerging since the month of September. Newly, German tech blog AndroidNews randomly came across website “http://www.amazon.com/apps” and found the Amazon App Store that was featuring apps as well as their prices.
In addition, AndroidNews found that Amazon App Store will offer Angry Birds Rio, but it will not be the only app available at the app store. It seems that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Force Recon will also be available.
But, the Amazon App Store could face problem in gaining grip due to Google's own denial to uphold openness on Android. Network providers such as AT&T are let to block applications that do not come from Android Market. Google does not let third-party stores within the Market and several AT&T customers will not be able to try the Appstore either via the portal app or the web.
However, Amazon’s payment system is accepted in more nations than that of Google’s. Thus, Amazon could be the only app provider in several countries.
