Waikato Hospital Reviews a Case of Baby Delivery

Waikato Hospital Reviews a Case of Baby DeliveryAccording to reports, a man assisted his wife to deliver her baby in the toilet of a maternity ward at Waikato Hospital.

The mother of the baby, Rachael Shepherd, was admitted in the hospital on March 11 and was advised to take a shower to subside the pain of contraction. The situation went out of control when Rachel felt the desire to push the baby.

As the attending nurse rushed to call the original midwife, Dean Shepherd pressed the emergency buzzer to call for help but nobody turned up.

Rachel was alone with her husband in the toilet waiting for the midwife. The pain became unbearable after 5 minutes and she pushed the baby. Recalling the incident, Dean told that he saw the head of the baby wrapped with umbilical cords.

Wasting no time, Dean removed the baby's cord around the neck and freed the baby. In the meantime, the senior midwife reached and took over the case.

Meanwhile, Waikato Hospital Spokeswoman, Mary Anne Gill has confirmed that a thorough review will be done to understand the entire case, but refuted the news about any investigation.

Though the Shepherds have not reported any complaint, this experience has certainly shaken their belief on the hospital.
