The Onslow County, an Autism Society of North Carolina, will organize its second annual Autism Awareness Forum on April 9. The forum will be held at Brookwood Baptist Church. Forums and community activities related to autism are planned across the country to raise awareness about the disorder. Such activates plays a major role in educating the parents about the disorder.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is one of the widespread childhood disabilities in the country. Majority of the people do not know much about the effects of the disorder on the children and their families. One out of every 110 children born has some form of ASD. More than 50,000 individuals are living with ASD in the state of North Carolina.
The forum will be held in association with the Onslow County Partnership for Children and Family Support Network of the Crystal Coast. Families of children suffering from ASD will take part in the forum to share information and challenges. More than 20 local vendors and healthcare professionals will join the forum to provide information and advice to the families of children suffering from the disorder.
