Online retailer Amazon. com Inc on Tuesday launched two new service viz. Amazon Cloud Drive and Amazon Cloud Player.
Amazon Cloud Drive allows users to upload and store content like music, video and photos on the company’s servers and then access them with a Web browser.
Another service, Amazon Cloud Player, lets users to play the music they have uploaded on the company’s servers, on a PC or a smartphone. Cloud Player is compatible with Android, BlackBerry and Palm. It doesn’t support Apple’s iOS.
The company is proving users with 5GB of storage, which is enough to store as many as 1,200 tracks. Users can purchase more space.
Those who want addition space can have 20GB of storage for US$20 (£12.50). However, for a limited time period, Amazon is presenting 20GB of storage for free to users who purchase a digital album from the Amazon MP3 store.
The Seattle-based company said that the new services would make it easier for users to access digital content from anywhere.
Apple and Google have also reportedly been pursuing talks with labels to launch similar services.
