A shocking case of human assault by a geriatric patient is capturing the attention of people. As per reports, an 80- year old patient went on to attack another patient in his 90s with a piece of physiotherapy equipment in the Lions Gate Hospital.
If sources are to be believed, the accused man barged into the room of victim around 4 am and smashed the windows of the room. Moreover, when an attending nurse and other staff members tried to intervened, the accused threatened them to move out of the room.
After attacking the victim, the accused was controlled by six police officers and further was sent to the emergency care.
Responding to the incident, Anna Marie D'Angelo, a Spokeswoman for Vancouver Coastal Health, refuted to divulge more details about the accident, though she confirmed that the victim is recovering with serious injuries.
In addition, the North Vancouver RCMP has informed the family of the victim and further assured that appropriate action will be taken to avert such incidents in the future.
Refuting the claims that accused was a psychiatric patient; D'Angelo claimed that any change in the behavior of geriatric patients is highly unpredictable. Further, D’Angelo informed that no legal charges have been made on the accused so far.
