A new one-stop service center for women patients with endometriosis condition has been established by KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH).
Endometriosis is a gynecological condition in which womb lining responsible for menstruation develops outside the womb due to abnormal growth of cell similar to cells inside the womb at outer area. This condition may cause unbearable pain and infertility.
Gynecology specialists, experts in pain management and colorectal surgery will manage the KK Endometriosis center and will counsel the patients.
According to KKH, this condition is generally under-diagnosed as women with symptoms unrelated to periods could also be affected with the condition. It also added that about 30% of women who complain of severe menstrual pain are diagnosed with endometriosis.
Nearly 1,200 women with endometriosis get treatment at KKH every year.
