Orange UK rolls out a charity app

Orange UK rolls out a charity appMobile phone operator Orange UK has rolled out a new iOS app, called Do Some Good, to instigate people to donate a fraction of the time to lend a hand to charitable causes.

The free app, which is currently available only for the iPhone and the iPad, allows users to choose from twelve charities to which they want to donate their free time.

Orange UK rolled out the charity app after a survey of 1,311 Brits showed that most people would like to donate time to charities than money.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron has also backed the app, saying it was a good way to tap into the untapped volunteering energy.

Commenting on the app, Everything Everywhere's President Tom Alexander said, "This landmark mobile volunteering project is a fantastic opportunity for us in our time pressured society to use mobile technology as a force for good."

Each charity task through smartphone takes only a few minutes to complete. Volunteers who complete sixty charity tasks will be eligible for Orange's RockCorps event.
