For offering the residents of Napier with more of improved health facilities, including a better range of healthcare and more awareness about services, few projects are in line to get implemented. Nurse practitioner urology clinics, women's health outpatient clinics and a hand therapy clinic are some of them.
Within a period of six months, more of new digital X-Ray equipments are expected to get operational at the existing health centers. Moreover, some new outpatient clinics at the Napier Health Centre in Wellesley Rd are also on the cards. Earlier people had to travel to Hastings for healthcare, but now more of doctor and nurse-led clinics are getting developed in the area. So this way fewer people will have to travel outside areas for medical facilities.
In this regard, Napier MP Chris Tremain said, "Now with the investment in new digital X-Ray equipment and an increase in outpatient clinics, we are seeing the benefits of National's policy of better, sooner, more convenient health services".
It was last year when after a review of health services in Napier, the need for improvements in health facilities was flagged. According to the review team, other than expansion, better information about locating and availing the existing facilities also needs to be highlighted.
