Rising Health Reform Waivers

Rising Health Reform WaiversDuring the month of March, 128 more health reform waivers have been granted by the Obama administration. This way their numbers are continuing to mount to a great extent.

According to the White House, the temporary waivers are necessary for stabilizing the insurance market ahead of the most dramatic reforms that are expected to take effect in 2014, but the Republicans are badly criticizing the administration for issuing them.

In this regard, as stated by Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich last year, "The fact that, over 1,000 waivers has been granted is a tacit admission that the healthcare law is fundamentally flawed". According to the reports of Hill, Upton and two other House chairman are already on their way to investigate the one-year limit waivers.

However, Democrats and the white house are strictly against the charge that administration has largely granted waivers but for this republicans and their allies have already accused the administration. According to republicans, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius can grant such waivers, but the White House has no such authority.

With additional waivers in March, 300,000 more people have been added to the waiver list and finally this count has reached to 2.93 million.
