An Awareness Event Held

An Awareness Event HeldIn an initiative to aware the people about the struggles faced by the children in developing countries, an event called “One Day without Shoes” was held. The event is dedicated to the children of developing countries who roam bare foot as they can’t afford to buy a pair of shoe.

The founder of the event, Blake Mycoskie who is also the founder of Tom’s Shoes has pledged to match every pair of shoe sold with a new pair given to a child in need. He further said that the event doesn’t involve money and is directed toward providing awareness of the people.

The participants were welcomed by Pure Spa in Roanoke on Saturday. People from all walks of life participated in the event. Chestnut is a former plumber participated in the event with his family. He said that the challenge is itself difficult as working bare foot may cause injuries and infection. His passion for the event also encouraged others to take part in the event.

Rebecca McDonnell, the school's Lakeland campus president after being touched my Chestnut’s passion said that the school’s staff and students will also be participating in the event.
