Autism has become a big challenge that many families are facing today and many others could face tomorrow, thus, April is being celebrated as the autism awareness month by the families that are affected by autism. They are educating more number of people regarding autism and are trying to raise maximum awareness among all.
Also, annual walk for autism was held by the Autism Support Group of the Kanawha Valley in Charleston on Saturday afternoon with an aim of informing every one about the symptoms and the early warning signs of the disorder such as no response of the child to his/her name by 12 months age, avoiding eye contact, repeating words or phrases, wanting to be alone, showing no interest in any activities, delayed speech and language skills, unusual reactions to the way things feel, taste, sound or smell, or displaying unusual body movements or repetitive behaviors etc.
Regarding the situation, Heather Samples, one of the family members that are walking for the good cause said that "They're angels sent from heaven. It's a challenge, every day."
Governor, Earl Ray Tomblin has also shown concern towards the ones suffering from autism and has recently signed a bill into law to cover the costs of all the respective therapies and treatments associated with autism by insurance companies.
