Popular micro-blogging service Twitter on Tuesday disabled the new version of its homepage, called “New Twitter,” following some technical turbulence.
Confirming the move, Twitter wrote on its status blog, “We’ve temporarily disabled #NewTwitter. Our engineers are working on re-enabling it and will update you shortly.”
After grappling with technical turbulence, the social networking platform also disabled ‘Trends’ feature.
During the outage, a number of Twitter users complained that they saw completely different Twitter feeds from the ones they had signed up for. Several complained they saw Twitter feeds in different languages.
The troubles emerged after Twitter introduced homepage improvements that included allowing users follow accounts based on interests.
The technical turbulence troubled Twitter users just a week after when Twitter co-founder Evan Williams claimed that the dark days of imminent technical meltdown were over.
