The authorities have been concerned about the increasing flu cases reported every year before the winter. They have been trying to follow every required procedure to save people from the problems caused by the flu. The authorities have been especially concerned about the senior citizens of the country.
They have been requesting the older people to get vaccinated for the flu before the winters. They have been providing the vaccine absolutely free.
It has been confirmed by Midland District Public Health Adviser, Dr Luis Villa that people above the age of 65 years are more prone to the flu. When a person is old his/her immune system is extremely weak. The lower immunity and health hazards like diabetes and cardiovascular disease can be fatal.
The vaccine takes around two weeks to develop immunity in the person. The experts believe that the people should talk to their doctors and get vaccinated immediately. The government is providing free Influenza immunization for people with high risk of complications and everyone older than 65 years.
The 2011 seasonal influenza vaccine will protect people from the Pandemic H1N1 Influenza 09 (swine flu). It is extremely important that everyone is vaccinated before the winter as the authorities expect this virus to be predominant in New Zealand.
