Greater Exposure to Sun May Cause Skin Cancer

MelanomaIt has come to light that too much exposure to sun can lead to skin cancer. Melanoma and non-melanoma are two types of skin cancer which can also lead to death. Each year, about 80% new cases of melanoma and non- melanoma cancer are registered.

The Melanoma Foundation is celebrating Melanoma Awareness Month and has launched a tattoo campaign to make people aware of the danger of too much exposure to sun.

The American Cancer Society has revealed a shocking number of people who were diagnosed with melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer. It has been revealed that in 2010, about 70,000 people were diagnosed with melanoma. It has also come to light that more than 2-million cases of non-melanoma skin cancers are reported every year. Melanoma cancer can affect anyone. New Zealand has been reported of having the highest melanoma rate in the world.

Every year more than 250 deaths from melanoma and about 100 deaths from non-melanoma skin cancers are reported. It is dangerous for all age groups and sex. Therefore, precautions are required to be taken to avoid it.
