Comet’s striking offer undercuts the 16GB Wi-Fi iPad2 by a £38. The Asus Eee Pad Transformer’s more expensive rivals include the Acer Iconia A500 and the Motorola Xoom.

Those who want the tablet with the keyboard docking station will have to fort out £407.

The tablet features a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, an NVIDIA Tegra 2 SoC running at 1GHz, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is expected to take a week to hit the UK store shelves, but Asus has already rolled out the source code for the Honeycomb-powered tablet.
