EA teams up with FUNimation to produce Mass effect-themed anime movieElectronic Arts’ BioWare has penned a deal with FUNimation Entertainment to produce Mass effect-themed anime feature film.

FUNimation is well-known for super-hit shows like Evangelion and Dragon Ball Z. the studio is also responsible for the upcoming release of a Dragon Age anime.

FUNimation’s President & CEO Gen Fukunaga said that it was the broad, passionate Mass Effect fan base that made the anime movie possible.

Speaking on the Mass effect-themed anime movie, Fukunaga said, “With production underway on the Dragon Age video, we are excited to team up with another Electronic Arts Inc’s BioWare team to add an exciting new chapter to this vast sci-fi world.”

Meanwhile, new snippets of information about Mass Effect 3 show starting with Shepard on Earth. He is on trial for the events that took place in the Mass Effect 2 DLC, Arrival. The Reapers attack during the trial.

The snippets also show Kaiden, Ashley, Liara, James and others returning as squad mates. At one point, Ashley is seen with her hair down.

Mass Effect 3 will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in the final quarter of 2011.
