Not Even the Occasional Glass of Wine for the Mother-To-Be

Not Even the Occasional Glass of Wine for the Mother-To-BeIt was previously told that a glass of wine or two in a week is a safe limit of alcohol for pregnant women. It was said that if a woman has to have this occasional glass of wine while she is pregnant, it won’t affect the baby much.

This research has now been contradicted and the new revelations are of the view that there is no such thing as a safe limit of alcohol for a pregnant woman.

It was previously recorded that there is no sort of developmental difficulty recorded in the fetuses if their mothers drank that occasional wine glass.

It has now been found out by researchers in Ireland that those women who drink as much as five units of wine a week could be putting their unborn babies to the risk of fetal alcohol syndrome. This syndrome might result in difficulties such as slow growth, learning disabilities as well as facial abnormalities.

The alcohol that the mother intakes, is passed on to the unborn child through the placenta. It is not able to process the alcohol quickly and this is the reason it is exposed to the ill effects for a longer time and this gives rise to further complications in the child.
