Refuting the speculations that a majority of Mersey hospitals will grant a pay bank holiday rate on the Royal wedding day, almost all of them have backtracked.
It was first rumored that the hospital staff members will be paid higher rates if they continue working on Aril 29, the day when Prince William and Kate Middleton will walk together down the aisle.
But the idea did not go down well with a large proportion of them who later refused to pay staff bank holiday.
Following this, Unite the union listed the health care providers who were not willing to be the part of this. But seems like, the number is much higher than the list.
It is learnt that the bosses at Royal and Broadgreen Hospitals Trust, Fazakerley Hospital, Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology and St Helens and Knowsley Hospitals Trust have disagreed on paying bank rates along with those from NHS Wirral, Liverpool Women’s Hospital, Wirral Hospitals Trust in Arrowe Park and mental health trusts the Five Boroughs Partnership and Mersey Care.
Gary Owens, Unite Regional Officer for the NHS in the North West, said: “Despite the dedication and the huge pressure on NHS staff, a significant number of NHS trusts are stubbornly refusing to pay bank holiday rates for working during the royal wedding”.
Although, the government has announced for the additional bank holiday but NHS trust is still not co-operating.
