The drug giant firm Novartis has now ended its third stage trial for the testing the authenticity of the drug Tasigna. This is a drug that has been tested for the treatment of many types of cancers in the stomach. The trial has been ended after the drug did not show how it was better than the current treatments available for same diseases.
This decision was made after there were positive signs shown by the drug in comparison to the previous medicine Glivec. This is the drug that is presently being used for the treatment of gastrointestinal stomach tumors.
Glivec has already received an approval for the treatment of chronic leukemia and also for the treatment of GIST.
The development and the testing for the new drug was being done due to the reason that they thought it was a better option and there was a slight variation done in the salts that made it different from the previous one.
It did not show too many positive results in the test of stage three and this is the reason they have been brought to a halt.
