Software colossal Microsoft on Tuesday announced that availability of Office for Mac 2011 Service Pack 1.
Available at Microsoft's Website for downloading, the new service pack promises improved stability, security, along with some performance improvements and some new features to the suite such as enhanced Outlook syncing support.
It also brings the much-requested feature that enables calendar syncing between Apple’s Sync Services and Outlook for Mac.
Explaining the concerned feature, Microsoft wrote in a blog post, "This will let you sync your Outlook calendar as well as contacts, notes and tasks with any service or device that supports Sync Services, including your iPhone and iPad.”
However, the software firm clarified that Apple's new version of MobileMe will not sync with MacOS Sync Services.
It means that those who sync their iPad or iPhone calendar with Sync Services using iTunes over a cable will be able to sync with Outlook 2011 SP1. But those who sync through MobileMe will not be able to sync with Outlook 2011 Service Pack 1.
The list of other updates in SP1 includes Outlook support for Exchange based server-side rules, Outlook Redirect button, Outlook Resend button, Solver integration support in Excel and Outlook edit of existing messages.
