Publisher Valve has announced the complete details of the Steam support for Portal 2 that PS3 players will receive when the game will be released on Tuesday, 19th of April.
The Steam network will allow PS3 gamers to engage in cross-platform multiplayer with their friends on PC and Mac. Steam Cloud will allow them to save their games online and play them from anywhere they like.
In addition PS3 gamers will be able to enjoy the PC and Mac versions of Portal 2 through the activation codes that will be available in their PS3 disc pack. Steam Achievements and PSN Trophies are synched together. PSN friends list can be accessed along with text chats, player profiles and friend requests.
Started off as an electronic market place for games created by Valve Software, Steam lets users to download games directly to a PC's hard drive, instead of buying from a brick and mortar store.
Gamers interested in the upcoming Portal 2 can "pre-load" the title to the PC before its official release. However, it will not provide gamers with access to the content before the official release of the game.
