The Southern District Health Board Assures Better Service

HealthThe Southern District Health Board (DHB) has been extremely happy about the success of the meeting for the proposal of the District Health Board (DHB) about an Integrated Family Health Centre (IFHC).

The board has thanked the people for taking part in the meeting and discussing their views about the proposal. More than 400 community members attended the meeting. It was chaired by the Southern DHB Chairman, Joe Butterfield.

During the meeting the Southern District Health Board (DHB) CEO, Brian Rousseau discussed the proposal of Integrated Family Healthcare Centre.

The authorities at the District Health Board (DHB) have assured that they will take every required step to assure that the Wakatipu community gets the best health facilities. They will make sure that such meetings are held regularly and the people get a chance to share their views and demands.

They will also resolve the problems of structure and staffing numbers at the Lakes District Hospital. The community feels that there is a lack of medical facilities at the hospital. There are more than 9,000 tourists that visit the region every day.

As per the board, the main problem is not the tourist in the region. They have confirmed that in 2009/10 only 927 tourists had required the emergency services at the hospitals out of the total 6,461 attendances.
