As per the divulgence made by the senior diplomats, the global decision on the list of countries that will be given the charge of developing vaccines through commonly shared flu virus samples is under progress and the final results will be announced very soon in the near future.
One of them stated: "There is a package. Everybody is on board, including Indonesia. The U. S. delegation is checking with Washington overnight but the U. S. ambassador has recommended going along”.
The decision that was expected to get a final nod by Friday is still due but it has been assured that the announcement is just around the corner.
The final listing will be presented at the annual meeting of the U. N. agency for the sanction of the health ministers. The meeting will be held through May 16 -24, this year.
It was previously reported that in a bid to combat the menace of influenza, the governments of various countries joined their hands with one of the largest pharmaceutical giants to develop vaccines that were not only cost-effective but also much more effective.
Following this, a meeting of some 30 drug makers took place in the last week that was attended by the bosses of GlaxoSmithkline, Sanofi-Aventis and Novartis etc.
