It has been felt that pets brought to the public park for exercising often disturb other runners by following them or even biting them. The world renowned dog behavior specialist, Caser Millan, became a victim of the same. She has reported of being bitten by a dog. She told that the dog swiftly knocked her down to the ground and bit a chuck out of her thigh.
It was in the first time of her 20 years of running experience when something like this has happened to her. In order to protect others, she has made some guidelines which if followed will prevent these incidents.
Randy Lockwood, of the Humane Society of the United States, claims that in the brains the dogs see themselves as wolves and the runner as a caribou or deer and therefore runners are always at the risk to dog attacks. If someone is attacked by a dog while running, then it is advisable that one should stop running immediately. Don’t strike the dog as it will be dangerous. Feed the dog with anything like iPod, jacket, and shirt to chew. And if one is knocked to the ground, curl up and cover one’s head and neck.
