The drug Crestor had been approved by authorities for use in the United States in the year 2003.
According to a new study, it has been shown that a trial conducted on Rosuvastin is of the suggestion that it leads to greater reduction in the risk of serious cardiovascular problems. This happens in those people who acquire low levels of LDL cholesterol.
Those people who have high levels of sensitivity C reactive protein, when treated with Crestor, the risk of the cardiovascular diseases reduces by up to 46%. On the other hand, there was no report of adverse effects noted among those people who had very low levels of cholesterol. It was seen, however, that the onset of diabetes was common.
Senior investigator, Dr. Paul Ridker said, "We know that societies living away from Western diets often have LDL-cholesterol levels in this very low range and have relatively little atherosclerotic disease”.
He further added: "What these new data from JUPITER suggest is that very low levels of LDL cholesterol can be safely achieved with aggressive statin therapy, along with diet and exercise”.
