Twitter has plans to acquire TweetDeck

TweetDeckMicro-blogging site Twitter is reportedly pursuing talks to acquire popular-third party application TweetDeck, which helps users to manage their accounts across a number of networks, such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.

TweetDeck allows use to perform several of the same things they can on the Twitter, like posting tweets, direct messages and search trends.

According to a report published in the Wall Street Journal, Twitter’s plan to acquire TweetDeck is a part of its preparation to increase its platform’s appeal.

The report also claims that the social network is making efforts to educate its users about what it exactly is. It is making it easier for users to navigate through the service and help them find interesting content.

However, neither the San Francisco-based Twitter nor London-based TweetDeck could be contacted for comments.

Twitter, which claims to have more than 200 million registered users across the globe, allows users to send & receive messages in up to 140 characters. However, some people consider it to be a platform for celebrities to publicize their thoughts online.
