Proposed Bill Calls for Warnings on Cell Phones

No definite proofs of the speculation that prolonged use of cell phones causes brain tumor and other problems due to exposure to radiation have been found, but that hasn't stopped a Maine lawmaker from stressing that it is no reason to not be careful, who is now concerned about the widespread use of cell phones and is calling for a warning to be shared by everyone of those who are at a risk.

Sanford Rep. Andrea Boland, D-District 142 has asserted that cellphone users should be appropriately warned and is now proposing a label that all mobile devices and packages sold in Maine should carry.

"If we know that there's a lot of research that says cell phones cause brain cancer and other issues, then it's important to let people know that", she said, while citing studies that she believes contain enough evidence to take the issue seriously and be concerned.

"Even though you can say that there are studies that don't agree with this or that, it certainly is enough to cause a cautious person to know about it", said Ms. Boland.

There are currently an estimated 1 million cell phone users in Maine.
