Security issues around mobile devices can be addressed by educating, training and raising awareness among consumers, Lehman Brothers Holdings’ chief information security officer (CISO) said.
Speaking at the Infosecurity Europe conference in London, CISO Michael Everall said that offers like free pizza can help a lot in raising awareness about security threats from mobile devices.
Speaking on the topic, he said, “A little bit of stick and a little bit of pizza helps to get things across.”
He added that offering a freebie for those who complete trainings is a good way to engage with users of the mobile devices.
Everall’s comments emerged after a recent study that claims that the threats posed by mobile devices are the second-biggest issue for information security experts, after application vulnerabilities.
Insurance firm NFU Mutual’s CISO Gary Cheetham said that raising awareness about risks associated with the use of mobile devices in businesses would assist organizations manage the risks more efficiently.
One of the primary challenges to manage the risk is the high speed of mobile devices’ adoption in the businesses.
