HIV Prevention Drug Fails in Clinical Trial

HIV-AIDSThe authorities have confirmed that the clinical trial for a drug being tested for a possible cure for HIV has been stopped. The research has been stopped as the researchers confirmed that the expected results have not recorded yet. They have requested the 3,900 women to stop the drug use.

The research was started around two years ago. The research was for the Gilead’s drug Truvada. As per the researchers, the drug has shown positive results when consumed by men in a study previously done. All the women for the study had volunteered from Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa.

Scientists have confirmed that out of the total 56 patients diagnosed as HIV positive 28 were consuming the Gilead’s drug Truvada. The rest of the patients were not taking any preventive drugs for HIV. The drug has not shown any signs of prevention after consumption once compared to patients who had not consumed any HIV prevention drug.

The researchers have assured that every required procedure will be followed for the invention and success of the prevention drug. Numerous people die every year because of the fatal HIV.
