Scientists have been trying to find new procedures that can prevent or cure the fatal disease called cancer. It has been confirmed that they will be able to invent an electronic nose. This electrical nose will help doctors to distinguish between the head and neck cancer patients and healthy people. The electronic nose will provide the results by detecting certain molecules from the breath of the head and neck cancer patients. The report of the initial study has been published in the British Journal of Cancer.

The required research is being done by researchers from Technion. The Israel Institute of Technology has collected more than 82 breath samples. All of these 82 people were segregated in three sections. The sections were head-and-neck cancer patients, lung cancer patients and healthy people. The scientist carefully analyzed the molecules present in the breath of all the three categories. The volunteers were requested to exhale the breath through the tailor-made detection equipment. The tailor-made detection equipment is called Nano Artificial NOSE, (NA-NOSE).

The discovery is definitely progressive as it will help the doctors and numerous people who suffer from the head-and-neck cancer. The main problem the doctors’ face it that the head-and-neck cancer are mostly detected late.
