Apple’s iPhone 5 to resemble iPod Touch rather than iPhone 4

Apple’s iPhone 5 to resemble iPod Touch rather than iPhone 4Apple's potential iPhone 5 will reportedly come equipped with completely redesigned features to resemble the iPod Touch, rather than the iPhone 4.

As per a new post on ThisIsMyNext. com by former Engadget Editor Joshua Topolsky, the iPhone 5 will have a fully redesigned form factor which will make it look like the existing iPod Touch.

According to the post, the iPhone 5 will feature a 3.7-inch display and a large home button that will be sensitive to gestures. The screen will be a Retina Display, though it will have lesser pixel density. The screen will cover almost the whole area of the phone’s front.

Wireless charging is also possible to come with the phone. Sensors and earpiece might be hidden behind the display.

The design of the upcoming handset will be influenced by the MacBook Air as it would thinner at the bottom and thicker at the top.

Explaining the rumored prototype iPhone 5, Topolsky wrote, “The phone will be thinner than the iPhone 4, and may have a “teardrop” shape which goes from thick to thin (something along the lines of the MacBook Air profile).”

The next generation iPhone might be NFC-capable. The NFC (near field communications) technology allows users to make payment for purchases by waving their handsets in from of a special digital reader installed at retailers.
