The Nenagh General Hospital has discovered three cases of C. difficle and one case of norovirus, and even three other patients have symptoms of the virus, and hence visitors have been advised not to visit at the hospital. The outbreak was started on Monday at general hospital.
Visitors are banned at hospital because there is a risk of contracting the illness.
Doctors at the hospital started the treatment of outbreak. Doctors have requested people not to visit patients, excluding in emergency cases. They said that visitors will not be entertained at any ward, without the approval of nursing staff.
Earlier, the outbreak in February has affected almost four wards at hospital.
Doctors at the hospital revealed that three wards, Uphill, Steepholm and Kewstoke have been affected by the vomiting infection.
Chris Bryant, Director of Hospital Services at Weston Area Health NHS Trust, said, “Hospital wards are never closed, but it makes sense to restrict new admissions or limit visiting to minimise the risk of spreading, as we are doing at present”.
The authorities also said that kids under 11 are not allowed to visit adult’s awards. They said that in emergency cases, when a visitor leaves the ward he has to clean his hands with alcohol gel or with soap and water for lowering down the risk of infection.
