A charity drive for the Auckland Starship Hospital air bus has been on a mission to raise funds from people on its six-day road trip. Starting from Kaitaia on Friday, a group of 90 people is already part of this charity venture.
Apparently, a major portion of the funds has been generated online. Organizers of the charity drive have confirmed that funds are still pouring in from every corner of the world.
In addition, 40 Minis in Marlborough along with their travelers were reported to be following the Kaitaia-to-Invercargill route as seen in the classic Kiwi film Goodbye Pork Pie as part of their contribution to the noble cause.
Further, organizers have confirmed that an amount of $126,000 has already been raised by the volunteers, which, as per reports, will be used to purchase $35,000 intensive care stretchers.
With the humongous support coming from the supporters, rally co-organiser Rod Harris has appreciated the effort made by one team which raised $22,000 singlehandedly.
A mother of a 16-year-old teen, Charlotte Crick-Friesen, who got treated in Starship Hospital for Hodgkin's Lymphoma, is also taking part in the drive to support the noble cause of the foundation.
