In lieu of the Holiday season, which is all about enjoying cocktails, fattening food and tons of parties with friends and family, the US Department of Health and Human Services has offered a few tips which ensure that everyone has a good time, while also making sure that they are eating, if not completely, then at least partially right.
Following the steps issued by the health regulator can help one prevent gaining too much weight, without hampering the spirit of the season.
Among the most prominent tips offered are to not restrict oneself, but limit servings of calorie ridden food to small portions. Also, one should try eating slowly, as the faster you eat, the more you will end up consuming. The key, therefore, is to enjoy the food slowly.
Also, a small walk immediately after a heavy meal can help burn some extra calories.
While attending a party one can try brining their own low-calorie dish, so that there is at least one healthy option. Additionally, try moving around at parties, mingling with others, and taking small bites of everything, instead of staying putt in front of the food table.
These small steps, the health department feels, can make a huge difference.
