With the Christmas season knocking, shopping is bound to go up, but Christmas Eve shopping this year has made people spend millions.
A research today reported that people are buying goodies on Christmas Eve for which they have spent nearly £951,000 per minute. More than 13 million people are expected to indulge in Christmas Eve shopping, spending the equivalent of £57m an hour.
The shoppers involved themselves on “Last-minute Shopping” for which many retailers started online services. For example, B&Q, the home improvement and garden centre retailer, started an online and in-store sale from Thursday. With many other stores joining B&Q, were Tesco and the departmental store Debenhams who also started online sale.
Despite the snowy weather, the sales have not been affected. 19.1% of people had not started shopping for Christmas by Dec. 16.
The National Retail Federation published a report last week stating that the average American had completed 46.7 percent of his or her Christmas shopping by mid-month, compared with 47.1 percent by that time last year.
But, the NRF report announced something else; it said that there is 1 percent decline in holiday sales from last year.
