Autism is a developmental brain disorder which affects about .5 million people in the United States. The disorder occurs in kids but could persist into adulthood in some of the cases. The disorder makes it difficult for the kids to interact socially or make an eye contact. Many of the autistic kids face difficulty in learning how to speak.
April is celebrated as Autism Awareness Month and various events and programs are organized during this period to help the parents of autistic children. Several books on autism are launched this year to guide the parents of autistic kids.
The book “Point to Happy” is published by Workman and it portrays the situations which might be frightening to autistic children such as travelling by airplanes or the use of vacuum cleaners. Another book, “How to Talk to an Autistic Kid”, written by Daniel Stefanski guided the parents about how to talk to autistics kids. The book also explains the problems faced by autistic children while learning to speak and will be of great help for the parents.
“Point to Happy: A Book for Kids on the Autism Spectrum” is written by Miriam Smith and Afton Fraser. It is a large colorful and interactive book which could help the parents in reading facial expressions of their kids.
