Several tourists and their leader were fined $125 each for neglecting warnings and getting very close to Yellowstone National Park's famous Old Faithful Geyser.
There are frequent warning signs in several languages to prevent visitors from getting too close to dangerous boiling-hot geysers, thermal pools and mud pots.
But, the warnings could not stop a group of some 30 tourists from taking a way-too-close to the Old Faithful Geyser that sporadically shoots out water that is as hot as 200 degree Celsius.
Four members of the group were captured strolling right up to the opening of geyser, followed by the rest of the members of the group.
Speaking on the topic, Yellowstone National Park's spokesman Al Nash said, "One would never want to be close to a geyser like that or, frankly, looking down into the column as apparently some of these visitors did.”
More than three million tourists hit Yellowstone National Park annually and a small handful of them illegally venture off the boardwalks which surround several of the park's thermal features. According to the park’s spokesperson, one person on average gets burned a year.
