According to a study at Children’s Cancer Institute Australia, it has been revealed that they are very close to find a new potential treatment for childhood lung cancer. Australian researchers claimed that the new treatment will be effective in targeting solid tumours in lung cancer. Lung cancer patients can hope for their long lives now.
Benitec Ltd., an Australian Biotechnology Company, is working in collaboration with the Australian Scientists in order to bring the new therapy for the lung cancer treatment.
The study has been led by the Professor Maria Kavallaris. He asserted, “This therapy could advance new ways of approaching treatment of non-small lung cancer, which accounts for 80% of all lung cancers”.
The new treatment method is resistant to chemotherapy, but scientists have worked out to weaken the resistance.
Scientists ensured people that the new treatment will be significant for the solid tumour cancers in children, such as neuroblastoma. They also said that neuroblastoma is believed to be one of the most aggressive childhood cancers.
The Chief Executive of Benitec, Dr. Peter French, said that the HIV clinical trials have used the same technique earlier and now the same method of treatment can be effective for treating cancer and many other diseases.
