An Independent Research over Impacts of Nuclear Radiation

RadiationAccording to the statement made by the World Health Organization on Wednesday, an independent research will be conducted soon which will analyze the overall health impact of radiation and this at no cost would be influenced by the nuclear industry.

It was after the first meeting held between UN health agency's chief, Margaret Chan and Chernobyl protestors, when WHO came with such a remark.

At the same time, Chan was also shocked to know that why the proceedings of a 2001 meeting which were about radiation and health involving experts was were not published. In this regard, the Geneva-based agency added in a statement, "WHO agrees in principle that research should continue on the health effects of radiation and the research should not be influenced by industry."

However, the health agency never discontinued its cooperation agreement with the IAEA, which was in regard of acting independently and that too out of its overriding concern for public health. But then at the same time, it also declared that imposing health safety standards in each country individually was not possible.

It’s been 25 years now that the group, "Independent WHO" with an aim to attend and treat those people who were affected by that massive radiation leak after the nuclear accident at Chernobyl, is working single-mindedly towards the related campaigning.
