Users of Android (Honeycomb) tablets can now view 3D pictures of buildings and all that using Google Earth as the Web search giant on Thursday announced the release of a tablet-specific version of the popular Google Earth app.
Google Earth Product Manager Peter Birch said the company wanted to take full advantage of the recently released large screen tablets running on Android 3.0 (codenamed Honeycomb).
Commenting on the topic, Birch added, "We've added support for fully textured 3D buildings, so your tour through the streets of Manhattan will look more realistic than ever [on tablets]."
Users of smartphones, running on Android 2.1 or higher, have already been enjoying Google Earth.
The update offers a number of new key features, such as a new action bar at the top of the screen that lets the users to have easier access to the abilities to search, fly to your location, Places, Panoramio photos, 3D buildings and Wikipedia.
Google earth, which was launched in 2005, shows 197 million square miles of Earth.
