A Canadian raid in Ontario, Canada, has charged a person with illegal supplying drugs and medications to the horse racing industry. Four search warrants have been executed by the authorities on May 3, 2011 including some from the Ontario Provincial Police as well.
The police searched two vehicles, a residence, and a business known as "#1 Tack Shop" to find any evidence in the racket of illegal equine drug sales and manufacturing as regulated by the federal Food and Drugs Act.
Regulated equine drugs and substances along with equine drug manufacturing equipment, computer equipment, and documents in connection with the investigation have been seized by the police.
Alain Lamontagne, 48, of Hamilton, Ontario, has been charged with the illegalities. He is facing three counts for improper labeling and drug production under the Food and Drugs Act and one for operating a motor vehicle without a license contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, in Hamilton, on June 8 to face allegations of illegally supplying drugs and medications to the horse racing industry.
