Collaborative Study Asserts Mental Strength of Depressed People

DepressedDepression can be good! This jaw dropping assertion has been made by a recent collaborative study done by joint efforts of researchers from University of Basel, Switzerland, Clarkson University, Stanford University, Technische Universitat Munchen, Germany and Charit Hospital Berlin, Germany.

The team has claimed that people under medical depression can prove to be highly productive in comparison to healthy ones when it comes to sequential decision making.

For the study, the team roped in sample people, comprising healthy, clinically depressed or recovering from depression, to gauge their effectiveness when subjected to a computer game where they can earn money against another participant found from simulated job search.

The team observed that in comparison to healthy participants, depressed participants were found to probe the simulated job search much better to find a suitable candidate at frequent intervals.

Meanwhile, a duo of researchers from University of Virginia is of the view that depression can act as a catalyst to boots analytical reasoning.

With this news hitting the corners of the medical fraternity, team has proved that people suffering from clinical depression cannot be down played by healthy and moreover, they can prove to be a tough competition to others for effective decision making.
