BAAPS Appeals for Regulatory Framework for Aesthetic Surgery

BAAPS Appeals for Regulatory Framework for Aesthetic SurgeryThere is a thin line of difference between the well-touted cosmetic or beauty and cosmetic procedure, says President of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), Fazel Fatah.

With the spurt in number of bookings for cosmetic surgery and other beauty treatments in men, Fazel fears that majority of the people nowadays are living under the false impression of keeping both, plastic surgery and cosmetic treatments, at same level, enforcing the line of difference to cross each other.

As per the annual audit report of operations of BAAPS, number of patients for breast reduction has escalated to 741 from 581 a year before.

Responding to the latest trend, Fazel Fatah claimed, "A lot of these men develop so much breast tissue that they begin to look like women’s chest. Men have become more aware of body image and what’s considered attractive and acceptable”. Moreover, the thing that amazed Faze is that despite the economic downturn, there has been no dearth in demand of aesthetic surgery.

Apparently, Fazel appealed the Government to draft a stringent framework to spread awareness pertaining to the difference between plastic surgery, including facelifts and breast enhancement, and cosmetic salon treatments like lasers, peels and injectable fillers.
