A new study conducted by the researchers at the Indiana University School of Medicine has claimed that the anti-obesity treatments or programs work well on young kids. The researchers have also said that these programs are more effective on kids up to the age of 6 as compared to those aged between 6 and 21.
Obesity has become a major health issue of the country. Obesity increases the risk of developing health complications such as diabetes and heart problems in later life, so it’s important to deal with the issue of childhood obesity. Most of the children become obese because they much on more junk and sugary food instead of healthy diet.
The researchers involved a total of 462 kids, 44 of whom were aged between 2 and 5. During the study, the researchers gave a pedometer and a journal to the families to track the activity and eating patterns of their kids. The study team also gave suggestions to parents regarding breastfeeding or drinking formula and eating baby food.
The results of the study found that the program was quiet effective on young kids and helped them in staying fit.
