Study Reveals the Positive Side of LDL

Study Reveals the Positive Side of LDLA recent study conducted by the researchers from the Texas A and M University has revealed various positive aspects of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), popularly known as "bad cholesterol".

Steve Riechman from the university said that the LDL acts as an important tool to indentify the warning signs related to heart. It is known as bad cholesterol because it builds up in the walls of arteries and reduces the blood flow which may result in heart diseases and heart attacks. Higher levels of LDL in the arteries of heart indicate the need of treatment.

The researchers evaluated 52 adults aged between 60 and 69 who were in general good health but do not perform regular physical activates. The examination of the participants revealed that those who had gained the most muscle mass also had the highest levels of LDL. Mr. Riechman said that the results were surprising.

He further added that the results of the study indicate that there is a need a certain amount of LDL to gain more muscle mass. The study highlights that every individual requires both LDL and the HDL in appropriate quantities.
