Actress, Julia Roberts along with the US Secretary of State, Hilary Rodham Clinton will assist in creating awareness for clean cookstoves, which is a global issue that has been reported to kill almost 2 million people yearly through the toxic smoke emitted by dangerous and inadequate ones.

Academy Awards winner, Julia Roberts who is now the ambassador of the Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, discovered the Alliance, during an interview with Clinton on a programme called “Extraordinary Moms” on the Oprah Winfrey Network on Saturday.

Robert stated that she was pleased to be working with Clinton on the issue to reduce unnecessary and avoidable deaths caused by dangerous cooking conditions.

She further stated that women and children were majorly affected by the cooking activities, which are taken for granted by quite a number of people.

Moreover, the Alliance for Clean Cookingstoves, which is a public-private partnership with over 60 national governments, UN, private companies and NGOs, was announced globally by the Clinton on the 21st of September 2010.

Roberts with Clinton, according to reports will play a major role in promoting the development of clean cookstoves in different cultures, communities, developing countries, with the main principles of U. S foreign policies and development efforts to better the lives of the vulnerable population of the world.
